What is a Sales Promotion?

 When done correctly, sales promotions can transform a business.    Most of us these days know sales promotions are usually designed to increase sales or, encourage the use of a service. They are also often one type of marketing strategy confused with general advertising.  In fact, the two are different.  Because, each entices a different part of the buyer’s nature.

Advertising is emotional in nature.  It induces consumers to purchase products or services through images, sounds, and experiences. Sales promotions draw on a customer’s logic.

To get the most out of the efforts you put into creating a promotion, it’s important for you to promote your sales promotion. I know, that’s a lot of use of the base word promote, it’s confusing, but accurate.

Promoting Your Promotion

This concept is often where many small businesses and entrepreneurs come up short and, usually happened in one of two ways.

 The first way is that many businesses simply don’t let their customers and potential customers know there is promotion opportunity going on.

When it comes to small business marketing, the first thought is advertising, but this can add expense. Here are some optimal ways you can get the word out, without breaking the bank.

• Highlight the promotion on your website home page.
• Create a web page specifically about the promotion.
• Post the info on your Social Media Pages and Blogs.
• Where permitted, include it in guest posts on other pages and blogs.
• Sent email notifications sent out to your approved email contacts.

These steps will go a long way in getting the information out there.

The second way many businesses aren’t successful with their promotions is that they, get the word out but, put out the wrong information.

Your first instinct will probably be to make your message about your offer, and that is a good place to start.  But, your message should also be about your customer.  More specifically, how they will benefit from the offer you’ve taken so much time to plan and execute.

Let’s say an accounting firm decides to run a discount promotion on all services they provide, for a specific period of time.  To promote this, they start sending emails and posting on Facebook that for a limited time, clients can come in and receive a discount for any service they need.  Most people will see the post or email, make a quick mental note about it, and then move on with their day.

The communication aspect was successful, but the desired conversion wasn’t.  What you need to do next is persuade your client that this will make his or her life easier.

Persuasion begins with building a link into your customer’s head. Start by thinking about your service promotion from your customer’s viewpoint.  Then make a list of the things that may be on your customer’s mind.  Some examples could be, whether or not their job is currently stable, whether they should buy a new car or even, where they are planning their next vacation.

No matter what they have in their heads, there is a good chance they are not thinking about seeing an accountant.  It’s your job to put the idea in their head and then, attach it to the things they are thinking about:

“Want to fly during your next vacation instead of drive?  Let us help you find your maximum deductions and use your larger tax refund to start a vacation fund!”

Next, go on to explain the benefits of having a professional go over their taxes instead of doing them at home.

Last, include an effective call to action: “Call now for your appointment!”

This post is all about the importance of building a good strong foundation for your business

So what is meant by building a strong foundation?

It is about building a list, in fact not just A list, you can do  that quite happily through the various social networks you are a member of!, it is more about building

This is why traditional affiliate marketing is flawed, becuase most models lack these 5 Elements, which is why, with most Affiliate marketing / MLM companies, to achieve the 4, 5 and 6 figure incomes per month, then you really do need to be prepared to look for the 7 to 10 year mark for this to happen.

Creating an Effective Social Media Posting Schedule

The frequency of your social media posts can directly impact the number of followers that you get and keep.

If you post too infrequently or frequently, you’ll lose followers. You’ll also have trouble getting people to take notice of your social media accounts. For this reason, you need to come up with a schedule.

A social media posting schedule takes into consideration the following factors:

• The best time of the day to post
• The best day of the week
• The topics you should post about
• The percentage of promotional content

Determine the Best Time of the Day and Best Day of the Week

The best time of the day to post will vary, depending on the social media platform that you use. Also, your target audience may have different internet preferences.

Don’t forget to take the time difference into consideration. 80% of the US population are in the Eastern or Central time zones. If you’re in California and want to target the largest audience, you’ll want to plan your posts based on EST time.

Engagement tends to peak at the following times during the weekdays:

• 9 AM EST – overall engagement
• 1 PM EST – most shares
• 3 PM EST – most clicks

Next, consider the best day of the week to post. Monday through Wednesday, people are less active on social media. The majority of the population is too busy getting into the work week.

By Thursday, people are looking forward to the weekend and are more likely to spend time browsing on social media.

User engagement peaks on the weekends. This goes against previous studies that showed higher engagement during the weekdays. But, trends change over time.

The bottom line is that you should post between Thursday and Sunday to increase engagement. You should also plan at least one post for 9 AM, and subsequent posts around 1 and 3 PM.

Find Topics That Your Target Audience Will Enjoy

Along with considering the time of the day and the days of the week to post, you need to consider the topics of your posts. Find topics that your target audience will enjoy.

The first place to start is with the platform that you’re using. Facebook makes it easy to share just about anything, but Instagram and Pinterest are more image-centric. This means that content with a compelling image included in the post will be more effective on these platforms.

The topics should also be related to your niche and provide real value to your readers. This could include:

• News
• Tips and tutorials
• Advice and suggestions

Essentially, it needs to contain beneficial information.

You can explore the most popular topics by performing searches through each social media platform. Each of these networks, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, includes a search box.

Type a keyword into the search box and look at the top results. View the profiles of the original posters of the top posts. Look for posters that tend to share content related to your niche and see what topics receive the most likes, shares, and retweets.

Balance Your Promotional Content

Along with your schedule and topics, you need to balance the use of promotional content. It’s a perfectly acceptable business practice to use self-promotional posts on social media. But, if you use too many promotional posts, you’ll lose followers.

20% appears to be the median where engagement increases or decreases based on the frequency of promotional posts. This means you should plan one promotional post out of every five posts.

If you post once per day, this is one promotional post per week. If you post several times per day, you’ll share a promotional post every other day.

You'll be able to relate to that, so this blog is documenting the journey

That notification was received in my gmail account on Saturday, swiftly followed by another which stated that due to an initiated recurring bank transfer set up, the money had gone from my MOBE eWallet to my bank.

You see MOBE pays out twice a month to its consultants, those dates being on the 1st and 15th of the Month and you have the option of having the money paid to your bank card, or bank account. Most people prefer to have the money paid into their bank.

It doesn't work!

Being part of MOBE makes your internet or online marketing if you prefer to call it that, far more enjoyable, because it teaches you to do it the right way, paying you much higher rewards, which if you are currently marketing online, promoting low ticket affiliate offers, you may well be frustrated, because they won't be paying out on the back end.

All those types of offers will do is cause you to quit online marketing, because as you will find yourself saying "It doesn't work"

MOBE  however... Proves it does for those that follow it

Blogger v Wordpress

This post is about why I prefer blogger to Wordpress,org as a blogging marketing resource

If you are a wordpress user, then this post will be of great interest to you, because before using blogger, I was a real devotee and massive fan of wordpress.I still have two of them, which you can see by clicking on the links below

By the way, intention of this post is not to get you to convert from wordpress to blogger, its just highlighting why I prefer blogger to wordpress.

The absolute one thing you need to do online, is to build your own list, that list becomes your asset and over time a very valuable asset at that.

The so called Internet Marketing gurus advocate that you use Wordpress, so you can build your list, through the use of informative high quality content

Producing high quality content is a must, having a blog to put it on, is also a must The reason it is a must, is this

Blogs, leverage the entire internet, as long as they are properly indexed so that the search engines pick them up, your blog will get see across the other side of world in minutes quite literally

That said, Why blogger over wordpress?

The reasons are quite simple really, security and hosting are two of the main reasons.

Wordpress blogs account for 27% of the worlds websites. Its an impressive figure, but wordpress sites are also among the easiest to hack into.

Speaking from experience, one of the wordpress sites mentioned above has twice been hacked and taken down. The first time, it was irretrievably lost . The second time, I managed to save it,  as it was backed up

The reason for having wordpress for my hosted blog, was to build my list, through the content being produced on it.

Blogger

So when the blog got hacked for a second time, I looked at  Google blogger as an interim measure.

Two of the things that attracted me most about blogger, were

Free hosting

Security protected by Google

There is something comforting knowing that to actually log into your blogger account or your google account, you have to access it through using your google password

What has been most encouraging about blogger is this... So far, Wordpress hasn't been missed at all

Everything that can be done with Wordpress, is able to be done with blogger, perhaps dare it be said, slightly more easily than it could be with wordpress.

Through the use of Google gadgets, instead of wordpress widgets, you can customise your blogger to exactly how you would like it, so that it still looks professional enough, without losing the effectiveness

Domain Names

With blogger, you initially get a longish blog name, however this can adapted by the use of a domain name, brought through a domain name provider such as name cheap, then adding it to your hosting account, which you can then re~direct to your blogger address

As an example of this the domain http://davehayes.co will re~direct to this blogger

Analytics

Another plus factor, which you can see more about on the blogger tutorials page which can be accessed

Is the fact that to link to your analytics account, is just a matter of clicking a box and your code is added, compared to the process of adding a plugin to your wordpress site, then connecting the two account together.

Sharing

Once you have written your blog post, which can be done straight to page, or, if you prefer, drafted on Google Docs, then transferred to your pre~saved post, as soon as you click publish, your new post gets shared directly onto Google+

From there, you then have the ability, much like you do with Wordpress, (as long as you have jetpack connected) to share your blogpost to 

Facebook, Twitter and Google + itself

So overall, the use of Blogger compared to Wordpress as a blog marketing resources is one to be highly recommended

A review of The TurfCutters Arms, Boldre, Hampshire

This is a review of the Turfutters Arms, ( below) situated on the Main Road, East Boldre, Hampshire in the New Forest, UK

Myself and my wife, stayed at this very hospitable pub, close to the New Forest, over Easter 2017

My wife had for want of a better word, done in depth research on a number of places, before settling on the Turfcutters and boy what a choice she made

What an absolutely amazing place, very hospitable, from the moment we arrived and got greeted initially by Ged, the friendly kiwi bar manager, who made us feel very welcome, then Simon the owner of the place, who is a very friendly guy, who went out of his way to acommodate guests, their dietry requirements and, despite it being a very busy place, with an incredible amount of trade, given the beautiful scenic and slightly remote location, still found time to take a genuine interest in your day.

Our accomodation, aptly named Rabbit ( if you follow chinese astrology, both my wife and I share the same chinese year of birth!) and shown on the left ( below) was comfortable

Comprising front opening, double doors, which on entering, you will see immediately to your left a lovely, comfortable leather chair, which faces towards the TV located on a table to the right of the front doors.

To the right of  the leather chair, is a lovely double bed and in front of that, is hanging space for your clothes with a small table underneath the hangers.

You will also see a medium sized window, which opens enough to let air into the room and also faces the front of the pub

Also situated in the room, was  a kitchen sink and draining area, which had a kettle, together with ample, tea coffee and sugar sachets to satisfy the thirst of most travellers. Underneath the drainer was cupboard space, which housed cups plates and glasses.

To the right of the sink, was a bathroom, which comprised a toilet, washand basin, bath and seperate shower unit.

Bar Area 

From the accommodation, the main bar area is situated a very, very short walk away and can be accessed from either the rear garden or front area

The bar area is best described as cosy, with a warm atmosphere and very welcoming staff, for who nothing is too much trouble and if you don't happen to have cash in your pocket, can pay by card, or if you are staying in the accommodation, then it can be added to your final bill.

There is a good range of cider, beer and lager available ,togther with an excellent choice of wine

Food

The Food was superb, with a wide selection of reasonably priced food available, all home cooked on the premises the turfcutters breakfast is a must have, along with the Ham Egg & Chips You will also find it filling and nutricious

Walks

If walking is your thing, then there are plenty of places to explore and enjoy, with the village shop being a short distance away, as well as a local church and other places of interest, however if you are planningto venture further afield, then the car is a must

This was our first time to stay in this particular pub, however, we liked it so much we have re~booked again for my wifes birthday in August

You should also add a widget or link on your website that connects with your YouTube channel. Increase exposure to your channel by adding these features to your blog or business site.

If you use WordPress, you can find numerous widgets and plugins that allow you to add YouTube videos to your site. You could also add a YouTube subscribe button on your site.

Become a Featured YouTube Channel

You have the option to add “Featured Channels” to your YouTube channel. These are channels that you follow and recommend your followers to follow.

By getting these other channels to recommend you to their followers, you can boost exposure. There are two ways to go about this.

You can either directly ask a channel to add you or you can start following them. There is no guarantee that the other channel will follow you, but it’s still worth the effort.

Interact with People That Comment on Your Videos

You shouldn’t ignore the comments on your videos. Actively respond to these comments. People may leave a comment without following. After responding, they might rethink their decision and start following your channel.
